I’m pretty sure Google has broken our understanding of the internet. If I had a nickel for each time I heard someone say, “I can’t find my site on the internet,” and meant, “I don’t see my site in Google search results,” … well, you know.
This reminds me of an article I read a while back. It claimed that many people (perhaps younger people specifically?) aren’t typing URLs into the browser’s address bar anymore, and they don’t use bookmarks very much, either. Instead, even for websites they access every day, they just do a quick search and get to websites that way.
Of course, I can’t tell you where I read that — I forgot to bookmark the article, and my Google skills are failing me. 😉
